Welcome

We warmly welcome a wide range of camping and touring guests to our site, including caravans, trailer tents, motorhomes, campervans, and traditional tents. Whether you’re planning a relaxing family break or a short countryside escape, we have pitches to suit your needs.

Backpacker Pitches

Our backpacker pitches are designed specifically for walkers and cyclists travelling light. These pitches are strictly based on a maximum of 2 people, arriving late and departing early the following morning. Guests should be staying in a small, tunnel-style tent only, making this option ideal for overnight stopovers rather than extended stays.

Kindly note that bank holiday weekends require a minimum stay of three nights.

Important: Our electric hook up’s are not designed to car electric cars. Anyone found to be attempting this will be asked to leave with no refund.

Arrival & Departure

• Arrival from 12 noon onwards.
• Check in is NO LATER than 6pm.
• The site must be vacated by 10am on the day of your departure unless agreed otherwise.

Booking & Payments

• Full non-refundable payment is required at the time of booking, we accept cards.
• All bookings must be made online.
• If cancellation is necessary we will do our best to find you an available alternative date.

Pitch Information

• Each pitch (excluding backpacker) includes 4 people as standard. MAX 2 adults.
• TENTS: Maximum 6 people per tent. 2 Adults and 4 children. (additional people after 4 are chargeable.)
• No adult only groups.
• Grass pitches are 7m x 6m. This must include your car/van, tent, windbreaks, awnings, and seating area.
• Our hard-standing pitches are 9m x 8m. This must include your car/van, tent, windbreaks, awnings, and seating area.
• No twin-axle caravans.
• Maximum of 5-night stay.
• Minimum of 3 nights on bank holiday weekends.

Facilities

• Toilet and shower block.
• Washing up facilities available with hot and cold running water.
• No fridge/freezer spaces onsite.
• The toilet waste disposal point is available on the campsite.

Site Rules

• No ‘adult’ only groups.
• Children are classed as 16 and under.
• No noise after 8pm.
• Ball games next to your tent / pitch only.
• Cycles/scooters/skateboards etc are NOT permitted into the farm park at any time.

Farm Park Access

• Farm Park entry and the outdoor play area are NOT included in your camping price. Discounted entry for campers is available. Please head to reception upon arrival to book your tickets if you haven’t pre booked.
• From May 2026 campers will receive an email which will have a one off booking discount code so that you can pre book your farm park tickets online.
• Please note that the 50% discount applies to standard farm and soft play only and excludes event days. Please email or call should you wish to confirm.

Dogs

• Dogs have to be supervised, well behaved and kept on leads of no more than 2 metres at all times and only walked on the footpaths to and from the site (they are not permitted on the Farm Park). We do not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.
• You must ensure you clean up after your dog.

Vehicles & Liability

• Cars are left at the owners own risk and THCP does not take any responsibility for these vehicles (1 vehicle only permitted on the electric pitch).
• The use of the caravan site and field is at your own risk. No liability is accepted by Thornton Hall Country Park for loss or damage to any property or personal injury whilst at this site.

Environmental Information

• In order to keep our farm and the countryside clean and tidy, we ask that our camping guests help by taking away their rubbish.
• Please ensure you take home any broken tents, chairs, tables awnings etc. Do not leave them onsite.

Food & Onsite Extras

• Our Diner is available for takeaway hot and cold food between 10am – 3.30pm. Closed Tuesday’s term time.

Additional Information

• Sleeping in vehicles: We do not accept sleeping inside of cars or vans that are not converted. Roof tents are accepted.
• Please be aware that the front field area is occasionally used for helicopter pleasure flights, where helicopters may land and take off.
• BBQ’s are allowed but must be kept of the ground.
• From April 2026 we no longer hire firepits and have no wood onsite for you to purchase.
• A site warden is available on Pitch 7 should you have issues when onsite. Please note that occasionally he may not be onsite but an emergency contact number will be supplied.

Located right on-site at Thornton Hall Country Park, our award-winning farm attraction offers a fantastic day out for campers looking to add even more fun to their stay. Please note that entry to the farm park is not included in your camping price and is available at an additional charge, with discounted tickets for campers.

Once inside, you can enjoy a full day of family-friendly activities including meeting our friendly farm animals, hands-on animal petting, and even bottle feeding experiences. Children will love the jumping pillows (weather permitting), as well as our exciting indoor soft play are, perfect whatever the weather. With so much to see and do, it’s the ideal way to make your camping trip at Thornton Hall Country Park even more memorable.
