]There’s a particular kind of peace you only find when you wake up to birds singing and see nothing but peaceful surroundings. Just fresh countryside air and stunning views in every direction.
That’s exactly what’s waiting for you at Thornton Hall Camping.
Nestled on a working farm on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border, just a short drive from Skipton, our campsite has become a firm favourite for families, walking enthusiasts, and anyone who simply needs to switch off. Here’s why so many guests keep coming back.
1. The views really are that good
From almost every pitch on site, you’ll see sweeping panoramic views across the rolling hills of Yorkshire and Lancashire. It’s the kind of scenery that makes you want to sit outside with a brew and do absolutely nothing, and we’re entirely supportive of that plan.
Whether you’re watching a slow Yorkshire sunset from your caravan awning or waking up to a misty morning over the fields, the setting never gets old.

2. It’s the perfect base for walkers
If you’re up for an adventure, the Pennine Way runs straight through Thornton Hall Country Park. Camp right next door to the UK’s most celebrated long-distance walking routes.
From gentle strolls to more ambitious hikes across moorland and valleys, the surrounding countryside offers miles of paths suited to all abilities. Don’t forget your walking boots — and maybe a good waterproof while you’re at it!
3. The kids will absolutely love it
Family camping trips can sometimes feel tricky to keep everyone happy, especially the kids. By camping with us, that problem more or less solves itself.
Right next door to the campsite, Thornton Hall Country Park is packed with friendly farm animals, indoor soft play, and outdoor play areas — there’s something for all weathers. And here’s the bit families love most: as a camping guest, you receive 50% off standard farm park and soft play entry (excluding event days).
Keep an eye on our events calendar too — there’s always something special on throughout the school holidays and bank holidays.
4. Pitches for every kind of camper
Whether you’re rolling in with a touring caravan, pitching up in a motorhome, stopping off for the night on a backpacking trip, or going old-school with a tent, we’ve got you covered. We offer a range of electric and non-electric pitches to suit all setups, all set within the peaceful surroundings of a working farm.
The facilities are kept to a high standard — guests consistently mention how clean and well-maintained the site is — and the team are on hand to make sure your stay goes smoothly from arrival to checkout.
Please note: grass pitches are best suited to caravans, motorhomes, and campervans with appropriate tyres.
5. You’re never too far from anything
One of the quiet pleasures of staying with us is that you get the countryside retreat without sacrificing convenience. Skipton — the “Gateway to the Dales” — is just a short drive away, with its bustling market, independent shops, great pubs, and easy access to the wider Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Our campsite offers the best of both worlds, rural peaceful surroundings whilst being very well-connected when you want to explore further afield.
